Wider isn’t simply a design open yacht which combines adrenaline, performance and fun.
She’s a water park at sea.
A daycruiser which interprets the concept of space in her own, unique way.
Indeed, the wider cockpit, has been widened by means of two extensions on either side of the hull, doubling the walkable surfaces and significantly increasing the boat’s stability at anchor.
The wider cockpit, patented by Tilli Antonelli, makes it possible to create an impressive walkable surface area of 18m² in the cockpit and a 6.6m width at waterline, unthinkable for a 42 footer until now.
High performance and lightweight, Wider has been built by exploring brand new vacuum infusion moulding (Scrimp System) techniques for carbon and vinylester resins, also used in both Formula 1 and the aerospace industry. The resulting product is particularly aerodynamic, and features two strong points: maximum efficiency and minimum waste. These aims have also been achieved through the shape of the hull, produced according to the stepped hull – typical of racing yachts – method. Creating an air cushion between the surface of the sea and the hull, the yacht rises up slightly, maintaining a highly dynamic sailing trim.
- Wider 42'
- Multifunctional steering wheel The multifunctional steering wheel with in-built multiview display, similar to those used in Formula 1, and featuring all the information necessary for sailing, was also developed through the Acson Marine – Naviop partnership. This previously unseen solution makes it possible to integrate many of the on-board controls in a single instrument as well as significantly reducing the number of parts in the helm station. Cockpit The furnishings of the cockpit, the heart of the yacht, are highly versatile thanks to a set of components which are either mobile or can be transformed. A carbon fibre bench in the centre of the cockpit can double up as a dinette for lunch, and the table rises up from the flooring by means of an electric mechanism; the pilot and co-pilot seats rest on a unit fitted out as an external galley, complete with worktop, sink, teppan-yaki griddle and 51lt ice box, easy to use once at anchor. Bow The bow is accessed using an ultra-lightweight, central, carbon fibre ladder with foldable handrail, which follows the line of the sliding crystal doors, creating a true design feature and providing access to a large central sunbathing cushion where those aboard can relax. Interior furnishings The area below deck includes a range of features designed to ensure those aboard are comfortable at all times. Portside, a food preparation area is fitted out with a double drawer fridge unit with freezer and ice-maker totalling 160lt., a Corian worktop with sink and a single burner, and a special slot which can house a microwave. Starboard, on the other hand, there is a head with carbon toilet, washbasin and separate shower. The central section of the area below deck is formed of seating, the upholstery of which can be personalised, set out in a C-shape with a central table which can be raised to create a double bed if necessary. Audio-video system In association with Denon, the standard layout of the Wider 42’ features a built-in hi-fi with which guests can listen to music throughout the yacht (helm station and dinette). However, owners can also choose to add the optional “Wider” audio-visual system to their yacht, where the standard supply of the audio is completed with additional amplifiers, speakers and subwoofers reaching a maximum power of 1460W; and the video comprises a 22’ LCD TC, DVD and BLUE RAY reader and multimedia player. Wider Suite Pack The yacht has been fitted with leather hang bags, which replace the classical cabinets. Said bags are unique, in that they can be packed at the owner’s home with everything necessary for the cruise, taken to the yacht and hung on the broadside, only to be taken home once the cruise is over. This exclusive feature does away with the need for owners to carry cumbersome suitcases with them. Lightweight The vacuum-infusion moulding (Scrimp System) with film in composite and 70% carbon, and other important parts such as the T-top, the central stairway and the seating in 100% pre-preg carbon (produced by top companies supplying Formula 1 teams and the aerospace industry), make the leading feature of the Wider 42’ the fact she is extremely lightweight, guaranteeing maximum efficiency and minimum waste. The highly advantageous weight/power ratio, unique for a pleasure boat, enables the 42’ to reach a top speed of 50 knots with less powerful engines which consume less and weigh less. This also means that less diesel is needed aboard, producing a positive cycle which makes the yacht less expensive, respectful of the environment and guarantees a large range.
