General Details

If you have been looking for a pedigreed pocket sportfisherman that has proven offshore capabilities as well as perfect utility, then look no further than this restored 28 Bertram. With over 1800 of the 28’s built between 1973 and 1985, this is the most popular sportfisherman ever built and most are still in action around the world.

“Reelax” is a beautiful example of the famous 28 Bertram. She was lovingly restored in 2007-2008 with an “open checkbook” and over $90,000 was spent on the refit. The hull was completely disassembled and nearly everything mechanical and cosmetic was replaced or restored, including main engines (new), shafts (over-sized), rudders, thru-hulls, wiring, controls, interior, glass, instrument panels, paint, plumbing, chrome, stainless and nearly every bolt and screw- the list goes on. She is dry-stored, turn-key and ready to fish or cruise. Her current owners don’t fish but use her only as a weekend cruiser.

Vessel Walkthrough
This 28 Bertram Flybridge model was ordered new with a lower and upper helm option. Upon entering the cabin, one will notice new soft goods throughout. She actually has two complete sets of seat and v-berth cushions- white and taupe. To starboard is a settee that converts to a small berth. Above is rod storage and below are two large drawers for tools or tackle. To port is a walk-in head with pump toilet (new 2011) and sink with ample storage. Forward to port is the galley. She has the original refrigerator which is used for storage, a sink with freshwater pump and ample counter space. Forward and to starboard is the lower helm, with a fold-up helm seat. Towards the bow is a huge v-berth with overhead hatch and lighting. Below is voluminous storage. Moving into the cockpit, one will notice how much room these boats really have. Reelax has had custom “star-board” panels constructed throughout as a replacement for wood- in the cabin, cockpit and flybridge. There are a multitude of deck hatches for access to engines, transmissions, gear, all tanks and steering gear. The entire cockpit sole will easily lift out for complete access. Note: the entire hull was separated from th deck and flybridge when the boat was refit. Engine beds were modified, oversized shafts were installed, running gear was replaced and new main engines were professionally installed. Everything on the vessel has been removed, rebuilt or replaced. Moving up a few stairs to the flybridge, one will notice a new instrument panel, wheel, fresh seating, windshield, shifters and stereo speakers. This was all replaced as part of the restoration, and the chrome was removed and replated throughout the entire boat. “Reelax” is truly a gem and gets attention and inquiries wherever she goes. There are plenty of old 28 Bertrams out there, but this one is special. If you have been looking for a classic but without all the “classic boat” issues, then look no further.
