GROUND TACKLE
Moon River carries a pair of 250 lb polished stainless steel Navy style stockless anchors, each shackled to a reported 300’ of ½” galvanized steel G4 anchor chain. The bitter ends of the anchor chains are secured with proper tag lines in the forepeak. The anchors are housed in stainless steel hawse pipes and stainless steel anchor striker plates at the bow topsides. Each hawse pipe is fit with a dedicated seawater chain wash with dedicated pump and seacock in the bow thruster bilge.   The anchors are hauled via a pair of Muir 4500 hydraulic anchor windlasses with vertical capstans and gypsies. The windlasses are through-bolted on a heavy stainless steel pad with well. Each windlass is fit with a proper clutch, band brake, stopper, stripper and devil’s claw.   The chains are hauled over bronze grooved rollers at the ends of the hawse pipes. The chains are then led down spurling holes to an unlined divided chain bin at the bottom of the forepeak. The chain bin in the forepeak drains aft via a pipe drain and overboard in the bow thruster compartment.   The anchor windlasses and chain wash are operated independently via separate tethered remotes or via remote operation from the pilothouse and flybridge helm stations. Hydraulic pressure for the anchor windlass is provide by the central hydraulic system.
