1986 27 (ft.) Oday 272
General Details
Here is a clean and well maintained, well accessorized, 1986 ODAY 272 masthead sloop with the outboard power (Nissan extra long shaft 9.8 2 stroke) in sail away condition located in Clinton, CT.
Who knew that Raymond Hunt also designed successful sail boats? The Hunt design ODay 272 was first built in 1985 as a shallow draft winged keel family cruiser with outboard power or optional inboard power. Designed to be fast and nimble, easily sailed single handed or by a couple, as usual Mr Hunt got it right.
Laurita Marie is a fine example of the outboard version with the tiller helm. Obviously well loved by the current owner, she is is excellent condition with all of the amenities and accessories one would expect for a boat that has been a big part of the family for many years. The original upholstery below has always been covered and is in excellent condition. The interior is designed to sleep six and is very comfortable for a cruising couple and guests. The functional galley has the traditional top load ice box, stainless Steel deep galley sink, and a two burner Origo alcohol stove with plenty of storage. The main saloon is tradition with settee berths to port and starboard, and a proper table which folds up against the bulkhead when not in use. There is a double pilot berth port aft with a fitted mattress. Forward of the saloon is an amidships head with a Groco manual marine head and a fiberglass sink-vanity. Out board are hanging lockers. The forepeak is fitted twin Vee berths.
The current owner has added his various touches such as beefing up the chain plates and revamping the electrical wiring and systems.
On deck , she is rigged for easy single handed sailing with a CDI roller furling system for her 130% Genoa. She is equipped with a whisker pole and carries a nearly new Asymmetrical Spinnaker. The main is 7 oz Dacron also in excellent condition.
The year 2000 9.8 Nissan 2 stroke is electric start and has an alternator to charge the house batteries. The throttle and gears are cabled to the cockpit for ease of handling. No hanging over the transom to change gears on this little lady.
I can highly recommend this lovely little lady for any level sailor looking for a sprightly family cruiser.
