Description

Antonio Stradivari is considered the most significant and greatest artisan in the field of instrument making the world has ever known. His instruments are true masterpieces that have been emulated but never duplicated. In some way a similar parallel can be made with Frog Princess.  Bruce King is considered to be one of the finest yacht designers of our time. His vision combined with exquisite execution by Hodgdon Yachts of East Boothbay Maine, has created floating masterpieces such as WHITEHAWK, ANTONISA, SCHERHERAZADE and LIBERTY to name a few. His craft are truly awe inspiring and employ the latest construction methods and materials while maintaining an aesthetic that only a true visionary could create. Each of his boats are one of a kind and Frog Princess is even more so as she was built for the man himself. If you are looking for a Stradivarius we can’t help you. If you are searching for a truly amazing piece of maritime history that sails as good as she looks then Frog Princess is worth serious consideration. Highly Recommended.

Vessel Overview

" A Master Builds One For Himself" is how Soundings magazine described Bruce Kings 24' raised deck cutter "FROG PRINCESS". It has also been mentioned in the Rob Report as an example of the best in modern classic sailboats.

Bruce King is considered to be one of the finest yacht designers of our time. His vision combined with exquisite execution by Hodgdon Yachts of East Boothbay Maine has created floating masterpieces such as WHITEHAWK , ANTONISA , SCHERHERAZADE and LIBERTY to name a few. His craft are truly awe inspiring and employ the latest construction techniques while maintaining classic aesthetics that only a true visionary could create. The FROG PRINCESS was a gift he built for his daughter who loved the fairy tale "The Frog Princess". Launched in 2005 in Boothbay Maine to the sounds of bagpipes and great ceremony , it was a feature of the bay for many years.

A pioneer in cold molding methods, Mr King used only the finest craftmanship and materials. The hull is made of Western red cedar and red Meranti set in diagonal layers and coated with 5 layers of West System epoxy. The custom interior mahogany carving and fitting was done by craftsmen at Hodgdon Yachts in Southport Maine. New green Awlgrip paint has been applied to the hull and the bottom was recently stripped to the epoxy with new West System epoxy applied . Three coats of 2000/20001 epoxy primer and 2 coats of MIcron CSC black bottom paint have been recently applied also. New gold leaf lettering was applied to the name. There are accommodations for two for weekend cruising and the raised deck configuration allows adequate seating below deck. There is a discreet head and pot belly stove to heat your coffee. A good sized cockpit with "park bench" style seating provides for more comfort than is usual in a boat this size. The sails were hand made by Nathaniel Wilson in Boothbay Maine, are in excellent condition and display many classic features, The jib was recently refurbished by him also. The brightwork has been done professionally as needed. The Frog Princess spent the Maine winters comfortably in inside storage and was used sparingly in the short summer seasons. Its excellent condition reflects this high level of care . This is a boat with classic looks and modern features, such as the fin keel and roller furling.

If you are looking for a truly amazing piece of maritime history that sails as good as it looks then the Frog Princess is worth serious consideration. This boat is a Stradivarius of design and quality. A one of a kind boat built to the highest standards for the personal use of one of boatings greatest designers.   This boat leaves no head unturned when it sails by. There is simply nothing else like it.
