OWL’S NEST, Merritt Hull #105, is the 8th of 9 custom 86 ft. sportfish yachts designed by Roy Merritt and built by Merritt Boatworks. Not only are the immense interior living spaces and accommodations of superyacht quality, the 86 ft. OWL’S NEST is agile, highly maneuverable, and capable of tournament fishing, cruising, and docking anywhere in the world. She offers a comfortable ride, taking on head seas (and any other direction) with ease, and twin Seakeeper gyrostabilizers provide roll stability. The Merritt 86 is designed and engineered to go the distance safely and efficiently with redundancy of critical machinery and systems, and to perform well with a refined running bottom, powered by twin 2600hp MTU diesels.
OWL’S NEST comfortably accommodates 8 guests/owner and 2 crew members, including captain in 5 staterooms and 4 heads. Merritt’s signature impeccable joinery, high-end appliances, fixtures, materials, furnishings, entertainment systems, along with cleverly built-in storage throughout the yacht, provide everything needed for relaxation and socializing at the dock or underway to remote fishing grounds. The foredeck features a gigantic sunpad with pop-up TV for outdoor socializing, sunning, and entertainment. Her huge cockpit and open bridge with hardtop and tower are well-equipped and outfitted for serious sportfishing. Greg Graham
Captain Greg has been fishing the water surrounding Ocean Reef Club since the early 80’s when he began visiting the Club with Mr. & Mrs. Peter Menten. After attending college at Florida State University, where he received a BS in Economics.
Greg returned to the Reef and started working as a deckhand on the Club’s Charter Dock aboard the Sea Elf owned by member Craig Lindner.
Greg was promoted to Captain soon after and the boat was sold to Dr. Jim Davis. Greg captained the “Doc Holliday” through 2003. Most recently, Greg has joined forces with Mr. & Mrs. C. Pat Roberts, Club members and owners of “Steel Magnolia.”
Greg & Mr. Roberts opened Reef Yacht Sales & Services, LLC in late 2007. Greg is the principle broker of the small yacht brokerage that has recently joined with United Yacht Sales.
