Description
2009 Merritt 72 Sportfish
Among the originators of the Florida-Style Convertible Sportfish, Merritt’s Boat and Engine Works of Pompano Beach, got its start in mid 1950s when big game fishing gained popularity as a sport. Wooden boats gave way to cold-molded construction and then to advanced composites for the greater performance and efficiencies realized, in addition to production advantages. Family-owned Merritt continues to operate as one of the world's most respected custom sportfish yacht boat builders.
“SIR REEL’s” exquisitely handcrafted softly glowing joinery, rich leather upholstery, and onyx and granite countertops create an ambience of elegant tradition—comfortable, functional, with understated luxury. The high-end entertainment system and galley appliances are all out of sight under counters or hidden in cabinets and drawers for an uncluttered, open expansive salon area. Large side windows that taper and curve aft, are reminiscent of the 1966 Porsche 911 that inspired the distinctive Merritt design.
The "SIR REEL" is a stunning example of a captain-maintained 72' Merritt. She was built by the most talented craftsmen in the industry, constantly upgraded and is now offered for sale. The "SIR REEL" has a 4-stateroom, 3-head layout, MTU 16V2000 engines at 2400hp with 3,500 original hours, 2 generators, Spot Zero water maker and purifier, Eskimo ice maker, custom live well system, tournament-ready cockpit with shaded mezzanine and fighting chair, flybridge with full electronics, electric teaser reels in hardtop, tower with control station, and much more.
She is as turn-key as they come.
